14th June 1966: Sam leaps into Will Kinman, the teenager he met during his previous leap, now aged twenty-seven and a deputy sheriff in Pottersville, Louisiana; Sam is shocked to discover that the woman he is in bed with is Abagail Fuller, the daughter of Sheriff Clayton Fuller, the last person Sam leapt into. Al becomes highly disturbed on hearing that his best friend has fallen in love with a woman who was previously his ten-year-old ‘daughter’, and he warns Sam to stay away from her – but this proves impossible, as Abagail and Will are due to be married the next day. The following morning, Sam arrives at the church to marry the woman he has become obsessed with, only to have the town sheriff implicate her in the overnight disappearance of local boy Don Takins; it seems that Abagail had been babysitting the boy, and was the last person to see him alive. Al advises Sam that unless he can calm the situation, the townsfolk will mount a witch-hunt against Abagail, accusing of her murder – tomorrow night they will try to hang her, but in the frenzy Abagail will be shot in the back…
